The Global Honors Theme Community is open to upper-level Hicks Honors College students as well as international students. Located in ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ’s newest residence hall, this community fosters a vibrant, intercultural community that values social, educational, and cultural exchange. Global Honors offers returning Honors students all the benefits of the Honors Returners experience plus these additional opportunities and benefits:

What Makes the Global Honors LLC Unique: 

• Intercultural Community: A mix of international students and upper-class Honors students live and learn together, creating opportunities for authentic cultural exchange through shared experiences and activities.
• Planning to study abroad? Meet international students who are studying abroad here! Maybe you will get to know someone who is going back to their home university when you plan to study there! 
  Can’t fit in study abroad: Gain some of the benefits of cultural immersion by having a suitemate from another country!
• Flexible and Engaging: Unlike other LLCs, there’s no required course for Global Honors students. Instead, the community is built through social activities, cultural sharing (with food often as a centerpiece), and collaborative service projects.
• Osprey Chat: Students will attend an Osprey Chat and one event a month, but that is it!
• Signature Events: Events in Global Honors are diverse and enriching, including potluck dinners with a focus on different cultural food traditions, field trips to explore local cultural and environmental landmarks, shopping trips to ethnic stores, game nights, and pool parties. These activities bring together a blend of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ students from various backgrounds.
• Global Perspective: With a focus on cultural exchange, students in the Global Honors gain a broader worldview while deepening their connection to the Honors College and ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ. 
  
  

Eligibility & Course Requirements

• Complete the Housing Contract and LLC Interest Housing Application
• Be in good standing as an upperclass Hicks Honors College student or be an international student
• Support/Attend Theme Community events and programs
• Live in new residence hall, with Global Honors Theme Community
• Be a sophomore, junior, or senior in the Hicks Honors College or an international student

Expectations & Conditions of Participation

Global Honors residents are expected to contribute to the community in ways that feel rewarding and engaging, without adding unnecessary workload. Here's how:

• Osprey Chats: Meet with your Learning Community Assistant (LCA) at least once per semester to check in and share your experience. The LCA will be better able to customize the LLC experience and events through these close relationships.
• Attend One Global Honors LLC Event per Month: Stay involved through a variety of exciting opportunities, including:
  • Fun LLC Medallion events
  • Culturally enriching Global Honors programs
  • Dedicated community hours to bond with peers and share experiences
• Stay Connected: Build and maintain relationships within the community, not just through formal events but also through informal gatherings. Whether it’s a spontaneous movie night, cooking together, or hanging out in the common areas, these unofficial hangouts are key to fostering a close-knit, supportive environment. Keep your LCA or housing staff informed about any challenges or conflicts to ensure you stay fully engaged.
