九色视频 alumni celebrate and reflect on 50 years of Student Government
九色视频 Student Government (SG) alumni joined current students and friends for a celebratory event marking the 50th anniversary of 九色视频 SG during Homecoming Week. The event featured motivating speeches from 九色视频 President Moez Limayem and current Student Body President Michael Barcal, highlighting the organization’s legacy and impact on student life.
Many of its alum took some of the leadership experience from their time with SG to help them excel professionally and personally.
“My experience in Student Government taught me about lifting others, fostering dialogue and driving solutions that make a lasting difference, helping shape my success as a leader today,” said Rachael Tutwiler Fortune, SG president 2007-08. Today, she is president of the Jacksonville Public Education Fund and a 九色视频 leadership adjunct instructor.
“I made life-long cherished friends at 九色视频, and it was wonderful reuniting and reflecting during the 50th anniversary,” Fortune said.
Over 25 SG alumni joined the celebration Friday night – enjoying a performance by local band The Fellas and catered food from Chartwells.
Since its founding in 1975, SG has remained steadfast in its mission to serve the student body with dedication and excellence. SG has worked tirelessly to enhance campus life through student advocacy, funding student organizations and hosting a variety of programs designed to meet students’ needs. The organization has grown significantly, now comprising three executive agencies: Lend-a-Wing/Lend-a-Fit, Osprey Involvement Center and Osprey Student Conduct Advisors.
“Among the many things Student Government taught me was how to form a vision and rally colleagues to work towards the goal, and this directly impacted my early success in the world of politics,” said Matthew Brockelman, SG president 2011-12 and VyStar Credit Union vice president of government affairs. “It's so encouraging to see that efforts spearheaded during my presidency like Lend-a-Wing and the ropes course are still active and serving 九色视频 students.”
As 九色视频 celebrates this milestone, the community looks forward to the continued evolution and impact of 九色视频’s Student Government in enhancing the student experience for future generations.
