Fall ‘24: Inside ‘Swoop’ on what’s new and upcoming

The ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ welcomed new and returning students and their families back to campus during ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Move-In today. President Moez Limayem, Provost Karen Patterson and Ozzie stopped by the Clubhouse to personally greet students as they checked in. More than 168 ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ community volunteers assisted including Jacksonville-based Corporate Traffic Logistics which provided chill-down stations at the residence halls packed with cold drinks, campus essentials and prizes.

As ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ soars into the fall semester, students and visitors will spot notable upgrades across campus including major building renovation projects, new academic programs, fresh dining options and exciting events. There will be opportunities for campus engagement and academic and personal growth for all students joining The Nest this fall.

Enjoy the following preview of the fall semester at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ:

Campus upgrades

¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ is growing with renovation projects throughout campus. Here’s what is happening behind the construction fencing, as well as some projects soon underway:

  • Honors Residence Hall: The new Honors Residence Hall is currently being built on Osprey Ridge Road, just north of the Osprey Fountains residence hall. This project will provide an additional 520 residential beds. As part of the construction, a new boardwalk will be built to connect the housing project to the center of the campus. The project is expected to be ready for student move-in for the fall 2025 term.
  • Coggin College of Business: The Coggin College of Business is currently undergoing remodeling in two phases. Phase one involves remodeling the first floor and adding a new north entry and lobby area to Building 10, with an expected completion date in late fall 2024. The remodeled space will be the new home of the Welcome Center, One Stop and Student Financial Services. Following phase one's completion, phase two will include the construction of a new three-story infill building that joins Buildings 42 and Building 10 and is scheduled to be finished in late spring 2026.
  • Brooks College of Health: The Brooks College of Health project will renovate select laboratories and common spaces in the building. The architect and contractor have been selected and the construction in J. Brooks Brown Hall, Building 39, is forecasted to begin in late spring 2025.
  • Student Support and Academic Building: The new Student Support and Academic Building received funding from the State Legislature this year. The estimated 60,000-square-foot building will be located north of The Green adjacent to the Thomas G. Carpenter Library. The building is expected to be three to four stories and will house academic support areas, study spaces, classrooms and student lounges.  The project will break ground in late spring 2025.
