¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ VP and CIO Brian Verkamp named a CIO of the Year

Brian Verkamp, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ VP and CIO¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Vice President and Chief Information Officer Brian Verkamp was named CIO of the Year in the Education category at the 2024 Florida ORBIE Awards ceremony.
 
The Florida ORBIE Awards is the premier technology executive recognition program in Florida — celebrating chief information officers who have exhibited excellent technological leadership. Verkamp and six other chief information officers throughout Florida were recognized for their efforts in driving technological innovation and growth within their respective organizations.
 
“Brian is a solutions-oriented leader whose great work touches every area of our University,” said ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ President Moez Limayem. “His leadership and commitment to student success continues to have a profound impact at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ.”
 
  
Verkamp is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the University’s information technology services and providing executive leadership and strategic vision for the institution’s technology infrastructure, assets, security and compliance programs and information services.
 
Since joining ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ as vice president and CIO in 2021, Verkamp has cultivated a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the ITS division, aligning technology initiatives with the University's strategic goals. He is currently leading the migration to a modern, cloud-based ERP system, Workday, set to launch this summer. Verkamp has aligned ITS to prioritize student success, evident in his leadership of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ’s first student success platform, myNest.
