The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum, through teaching, research and public service, and its commitment to leadership and excellence, strives to enhance the quality of education in its varied forms and settings in Florida, the nation and the world.

Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction

The aim of the Doctor of Education (EdD) degree in Curriculum and Instruction is to prepare scholarly practitioners to be innovative leaders who can transform teaching and learning in their schools, districts and other educational institutions.

The M.Ed. (Master of Education) program is tailored for certified educators seeking to advance their professional growth and development through ongoing, expert-level learning.

Master of Education in Elementary Education

The new M.Ed. in Elementary Education program offers you the opportunity to make connections between your areas of interest and your professional practice. You will select from the following Graduate Certificates or Course Clusters that you will stack into your M.Ed. in Elementary to build a program tailored to your specific career goals and aspirations. Through teacher inquiry you will learn and apply your learning related to your tailored coursework. You will choose from the following:

  • Graduate Certificate - Elementary STEM
  • Graduate Certificate - Advanced Literacy Practices for Engaging Learners
  • Graduate Certificate - Teacher Inquiry
  • Graduate Certificate - Teacher Leadership for Professional and Student Learning
  • Graduate Certificate - Teaching Diverse Learners
  • Course Cluster in Elementary Methods
    • For elementary educators who entered through alternative pathways to teaching and are interested in bolstering their instruction in the literacy, mathematics, and science
  • Course Cluster- Alternative Teacher Certification Competencies
    • For elementary educators who entered through alternative pathways to teaching and are interested in bolstering their instruction related to Language & Cognitive Foundations for Reading, Principles of Instruction and Management, Foundations of Exceptional Education and Services, Principles Learning and Classroom Assessment, Applied Linguistics and Grammar; meets credentialing

Master of Arts (M.A.T.)

The M.A.T. (Master of Arts in Teaching) program is designed for individuals with a bachelor's degree in a non-teaching related field who desire to attain their initial professional teaching certificate.

This is NOT a program for individuals who already have their state licensure/certification.
